Anna Finkel trained at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre graduating in 2005. Her studies next took her to London UK where she completed a Masters in Dance Performance through Transitions Dance Company at Laban in 2008.
Prior to her move overseas, Anna had the pleasure of working Canadian choreographers Sharon Moore, Susanna Hood, Kathleen Rea and Keaja d’Dance. She was a company member at Le Groupe Dance lab under the artistic direction of Peter Boneham and Tony Chong.
In the UK, Anna has been a company member with Punchdrunk, Gecko Theatre, Lost Dog, and Ace Dance and Music, all of with whom she has done extensive international touring, sharing the work with a vast array of audiences. She has also worked with DV8, Handspring and Mad Dogs Dance Theatre. Over five years, Anna was a deviser and performer with Lost Dog creating five works including It Needs Horses, a duet which won The Place Prize for dance in 2011.
For the last two years Anna has been working with Punchdrunk Immersive Theatre Company. First in London, devising and performing the role of Wendy (Woyzeck) in The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable produced by the National Theatre. Following a year run of The Drowned Man, Anna relocated to New York City to play Lady MacBeth in Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More.
Most recently, Anna has been working in Los Angeles as an assistant choreographer, developing an immersive theatrical component for Louis Vuitton.
Anna is absolutely thrilled to be working with Sharon and Derek this summer on the Thirst for Love and Water.
