Justin Dale was made in Calgary, Alberta from 100% locally-sourced Canadian awesome. If you can manage to catch a glimpse of Justin Dale, he will probably be either spinning, jumping, rolling, swinging or throwing himself around. As a graduate from the esteemed National Circus School of Montreal, and a veteran of 8 years of theatrical and physical performing, Justin lives for the expression on the stage.
From a young age, Justin has been studying martial arts and acrobatic movement, earning his 1st dan black belt in Taekwondo at 16. Growing up near the Albertan wilderness has lent itself to Justin’s wild style of circus and acrobatics. He began his performance career with the Summerstock Theatre Company, dancing, singing, acting, and doing stunt work for shows such as Grease, RENT, Guys n’ Dolls, Hairspray, and Bang Bang Your Dead. Sometime in 2009 Justin discovered the art of fire manipulation/dance and refined his skills until he joined Firestorm, a professional fire troupe, in 2010.
After being bitten by the extreme performance bug, he began to study the acrobatic cyr wheel in a cold warehouse in his hometown until a fateful audition on the way to Whistler BC for a snowboard trip lead to an acceptance to the National Circus School and thus began three years of intensive circus education.
During his time there, Justin performed in the three year end shows, doing cyr wheel and animation for the pre-show of “Generation 2.0”, drumming, acro and beatboxing in “Pour le Meillure et pour le Pire” and starred with a cyr wheel solo in “L’abri”.
Following graduation, Justin performed his act at the International Circus Festival in Elbeuf, France., worked on research and development for new wheel apparati for Cirque Du Soleil, and worked with Cirque Hors Piste to direct a social circus creation intensive.
Now Justin is stoked like a furnace to perform with the Thirst For Love and Water project and hopes you will enjoy the show as much as he will 😀
Outside of the circus, Justin enjoys producing and mixing electronic music, making sushi and adventuring in the wilderness.
