Originally from London, ON, Andrew Swan is a graduate of the Professional Training Program at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. During his studies, Andrew had the pleasure of performing works by Conrad Alexandrowicz, Peggy Baker, Nova Bhattacharya, Marc Boivin, Jennifer Dallas, Danny Grossman, Christopher House, Allen Kaeja, Louis Laberge-Côté, Sharon B. Moore, Julia Sasso, Heidi Strauss and Darryl C. Tracy. He also participated in residencies and workshops led by Peggy Baker, Douglas Dunn, Dancemakers, Paul-André Fortier, Sasha Ivanochko, Ami Shulman, Risa Steinberg, and 605 Collective. In 2014, Andrew received The Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Artist Grant for Contemporary Dance in Canada.
An international dance artist, Andrew has trained in Berlin (TanzFabrik Berlin), Montreal (Studio Bizz), New York (Movement Research, Mark Morris Dance Centre, The Ailey School), Winnipeg (The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School), and most recently at The Performing Arts and Research Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S) in Brussels, where he had the opportunity to learn and perform repertory by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker under the direction of Nordine Benchorf, Martha Coranado, Roberto Olivan, and Sandy Williams.
In September, Andrew will tour the U.K. and Europe on scholarship from The Leverhulme Trust as a member of The London Contemporary Dance School’s EDge Dance Company under the direction of Jeanne Yasko, while completing his Master’s Degree in Contemporary Dance from the University of Kent.
Andrew is thrilled to be joining The Thirst for Love and Water this summer at The Toronto 2015 Pan Am & Parapan Am Games under the outstanding direction of Sharon B. Moore and Derek Aasland.
